Can we go beyond Clarity and Alignment?
Reflections on a Busy Year
As we inch closer to the end of another busy financial year, I've been contemplating the nature of busy-ness itself. Since December, I’ve found myself in a whirlwind of engagements, speaking with leaders, coaching teams, and collaborating across organizations. I'm not just busy, I'm stretched.
And what a privilege it is to be stretched by something that genuinely interests me and that I care about deeply.
In conversations with leaders, there’s a recurring theme. A collective yearning for "clarity" and "alignment.” Perhaps it’s a response to the chaotic world we live in, or maybe it’s a realization that I've just recently tuned into. Yet, as I dig deeper, I can't help but wonder if this desire for clarity and alignment is truly the goal we think it is.
What I’ve observed is a profound push for these things, but often, they seem like false goals or mere sub-goals. They represent a pathway to something much deeper. A longing that’s not fully articulated.
So, I invite you to ponder this: If you were to achieve the clarity or alignment you seek, what would that really mean for you? What would you be feeling, saying, or doing differently? What might you choose to let go of?
Let’s dig beyond the surface and uncover the true goal, whatever that may be for each of us.
