Meet Chris Spinks
Executive & Leadership Coach, Director at Nobis
Chris is a leadership and executive coach with a background in high-performance sport and over two decades of experience helping individuals and teams reach their potential.
His career in sports performance and coaching taught him that sustained success relies less on technical skill and more on awareness — of self, others, and the system around you. Today, he brings that same discipline and curiosity to executive and organisational contexts, supporting people to build their capacity and capability in ways that are relevant to their worlds.

Chris’ coaching philosophy centres on empowering individuals to thrive, grow, and develop from within.
It moves beyond skill-building into deeper personal transformation, unlocking potential not just professionally, but in all areas of the human experience.
This approach recognises that although complexity and uncertainty are outer-world realities, capacity and capability are transformed from within.
-
A defining principle of Chris’s practice is self as instrument: the understanding that a coach’s awareness, presence, and relationship to the work directly shapes the impact of the coaching itself.
Rather than striving for neutrality, Chris acknowledges that the coach is part of the system: every interaction influences a coachee’s meaning-making.
By working with that interdependence consciously, he helps clients explore their own influence to build awareness, capability, and confidence in how they lead, relate, and communicate.
The Nobis Approach
At Nobis, our work begins with people – not tools, models, or pre-set programs. Every engagement is shaped by the belief that how we relate in our inner world directly influences how we lead and collaborate in the outer one.
Some coaches focus on content only: the business problem, the structure, the system. At Nobis, we also explore context: the human layer beneath. Because understanding who you are – your challenges, strengths, and priorities – is the key to unlocking meaningful growth at the source.
Through the coaching process, coachees become more aware of their own patterns, perspectives, and presence. From there, capability develops naturally: better choices, steadier decisions, clearer communication. Confidence emerges as an earned outcome. Not as a single destination to arrive at, but as pathways that open up the more you know yourself.
What is Coaching, and what it’s not
Coaching helps you meet your edge. Not with fear or bravado, but with curiosity and self-trust. It holds you in that space a little longer, supported when you don't yet know where to tread.
Coaching is often mistaken for mentoring, training, or therapy – but its focus is different. Rather than providing answers, expertise, or instruction, coaching creates the space for individuals and teams to find their own insight and direction.
Through structured conversation and challenge, the process is reflective and forward-focused, building self-awareness, independence, and capacity for sustained growth.
